Matam Venkata Ramana, J., was born on 12.02.1960 in Hyderabad to Smt.Kamala Narayana Rao and Sri M.Narayana Rao, members of a well known family of advocates from Gooty, Anantapur District. His great grandfather, Sri M.Vedavyasachar, his grandfather Sri M.Sethu Rao, and his father Sri M.Narayana Rao practiced as advocates at Gooty, and other courts in Anantapur District.
Following this tradition, he received his LLB from Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of Law, Bangalore, and his LLM in Constitutional Law from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He began his professional training under his father, and later served as a junior advocate in the office of Sri KS Jayaram, Senior Advocate, Anantapur. After practising for five years, he was appointed as a District Munsif (Junior Civil Judge) at Chittoor on 01.04.1987, and went on to work in various courts across erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

Born in Advocates’ family on 12.08.1962. Paternal grand father Sri Upmaka Narayana Murthy was a reputed lawyer and Sathavadhani in Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram District. Maternal grand father Sri Voleti Kameswar Rao and his brothers Sri Seetharam Murthy and Sri Laxmoji Rao were also Lawyers. Wife Smt.Perin Devi and father-in-law Sri A. Narsimham are Lawyers. After completion of law joined in the office of maternal grand father Sri Voleti Seetharam Murthy in 1986 and practised in Parvathipuram, Bobbili, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Districts. Did L.L.M in Constitutional Law, Crimes and Torts. Selected as Additional District Judge (Direct Recruitment) in 1998 and held different posts including Principal District Judge, Karimnagar, Kurnool, Additional Director, A.P. Judicial Academy, Registrar (Judicial), Central Project Coordinator etc., Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and sworn in on 23rd October, 2013. Appointed as Judge of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh and assumed charge as such on the afternoon of 02-03-2016.
His Lordship Laid down the office on 11.08.2024 on attaining the age of superannuation.

His Lordship was born on 29.10.1963 (recorded date of birth is 01.09.1962) at Ananthapuramu. His father Sri Bandaru Subramanyam was leading Civil Lawyer and his mother Smt.B.Subba Lakshmi, was a housemaker. His paternal grandfather Sri B.Ranganatham, was also leading lawyer in criminal cases. His Lordship had his school education up to 10th standard at Sri Potti Sreeramulu Municipal High School, at Ananthapuramu. Passed Intermediate Course from Government Junior College, Ananthapuramu. Obtained B.Com. degree from Sree Venkateswara University, Tirupati. Obtained Law Degree from Gulbarga University in the year 1986. Enrolled as an advocate on the rolls of Bar Counsel of Andhra Pradesh on 08.08.1986 and joined the office of his father Sri Bandaru Subramanyam. Joined judicial service as District Munsif on 01.05.1991. Worked as District Munsif at Nandikotkur, Srikalahasthi, Rajampet and Tirupathi. Then promoted as Senior Civil Judge and worked as such at Secunderabad, Proddutur, Kadapa, Mahabubnagar and promoted as District Judge in November 2010, worked at Mahabubnagar, Narasaraopet, Tirupati, Kurnool and as Metropolitan Sessions Judge, Vijayawada. Elevated as Judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh, at Amaravati on 04.08.2022. Married to Smt.Bandaru Geetha and blessed with two sons, viz. B.S.Nikhil Vasista and B.S.Nithin Krishna. Both are working as Software Engineers.
